In 2026, the iconic Rhino Weekend evolves into something even bigger. Rhino Rising – A Weekend of Conservation brings together runners, cyclists, swimmers, conservationists, adventurers and ocean lovers in a united stand for one of Africa’s most threatened species.
Set against the breathtaking coastline of Kenton-on-Sea, swimmers will take to the
water in Bushmans river on Friday, 18 September 2026 at 4PM, with prize giving
and celebrations to follow after the swim.
Swim Distances
This year’s event features two powerful distances inspired by the rhino horn itself:
The Short Horn – 1 Mile Swim
A challenge designed for river lovers of all levels. The Short Horn represents
accessibility, courage and connection to conservation through movement.
The Long Horn – Double Mile Swim
For endurance swimmers ready to push further, the Long Horn is a true test of grit
and determination — embodying the strength and endurance of the rhino.
Whether you choose the Short Horn or the Long Horn, every swimmer becomes part of something bigger than sport.
More Than A Swim
The Rhino Swim is not simply about crossing a finish line. It is about raising awareness, building community and creating meaningful impact for conservation. As part of the broader Rhino Rising weekend alongside the Rhino Run and Rhino
Cycle, the swim adds a powerful ocean element to a growing conservation movement rooted in adventure and purpose.
Hosted by Awehness, the event celebrates the connection between people, nature
and wild spaces — reminding us that every action, every kilometre and every stroke
can contribute to protecting our planet’s future.
